We want to thank our dear friend Tom Gullo who helped us put this
web page together. We never could have done it without him! Thanks,
Tom!
Last Sunday, May 11, was Mother's Day. As usual, I was working in the store, refinishing a chair and rearranging the various porcelain, glass, crystal and brass items I'd assembled.
But the energy in Parque de los Reyes was different that day. I loved seeing sons and daughters walking down the aisles with their mothers, laughing and telling stories as they encountered items they'd had in their homes as children.
The energy among the antiques dealers was different, too. On "2nd Street", where I have my shop, almost all the dealers are men. To celebrate with the few women dealers on the block, they put together a special celebration for us. Don Antonio, the patriarch of our street, bought a delicious cake to share. Victor, who owns the shop across from mine, contributed a beautiful set of silver forks. Pepe, on the corner, shared a bottle of whiskey, which he brought on an antique porcelain tray with a set of crystal cups.
That's how I spent the afternoon of Mother's Day: with cake, coffee, whiskey, and a warm feeling of camaraderie with my neighbors at Parque de los Reyes.

Wow.
It's hard to believe that our store is real! The years we've spent
organizing our finances, studying antiques, collecting and cataloging,
daring to dream that we could make this store a reality.... The months
we've spent pricing our inventory, searching for the perfect space,
seeking advice from friends and experts.... The weeks we've spent
cleaning, spackling, painting, laying carpet, installing light
fixtures, and arranging our inventory in the store....
We're thrilled to have a place called Levinsky Antiques, and we hope you'll visit us to talk, laugh, and celebrate with us! |
